In 1988, a group of residents established the City's first Multicultural Festival to help promote understanding and build harmony within cultures. A second festival in 2000 sparked interest to expand the event to a larger venue, enabling attendance and participation to grow. In 2002, equipped with a new name and location, Irvine Global Village Festival moved to the Irvine Civic Center, where it drew an estimated 4,000 visitors. The dedicated residents who initially started the festival went on to form the Irvine Multicultural Association, where they continue to actively guide the planning and development of the annual event as it grows each year.

In 2021, the City celebrated two significant anniversaries, the City of Irvine's 50th anniversary and the 20th year hosting the Irvine Global Village Festival. The festival was awarded the 2021 California Park & Recreation Society Award of Excellence in the Creating Community Award of Excellence. In 2012, the City received the Cultural Diversity Award from the National League of Cities for its role in developing creative and effective programs, such as Irvine Global Village Festival, that improve and promote cultural diversity. In 2009, Irvine Global Village Festival was voted "Best Festival" by OC Weekly

Now the City's signature event, the Festival continues to highlight Irvine's vibrant and diverse community and has grown to include more than 100 musical, dance, and demonstration performances on multiple stages, and features a variety of local and global cuisines, kids' crafts and activities, cultural exhibits, and a global marketplace.

The Oddities & Curiosities Expo showcases hand-selected vendors, dealers, artists, and small businesses with all things weird. You'll find items such as taxidermy, preserved specimens, original artwork, horror/Halloween inspired pieces, antiques, handcrafted oddities, quack medical devices, creepy clothing, odd jewelry, skulls/bones, funeral collectibles & much more. We truly have something weird for everyone at our shows. All items you see at our shows are legal to own and sustainably sourced. Outside of our curated vendors, we host sideshow performers on stage all throughout the day and the opportunity to learn the taxidermy craft with classes available during the expo.

The O&C Expo provides a safe place for anyone to come and discover new artists, meet new friends and be surrounded by a fantastic community of like-minded people. We pride ourselves on being an altogether "DIY" run show from start to finish. We find so much joy in providing a place where you can feel at home surrounded by others with the same interests. We are the first and original traveling event exclusively showcasing the country's oddities, vendors, and dark artists. We are a one-of-a-kind event and the first to do what we specialize in. We take tremendous pride in this and hope to gain your support along the way.

ANNUAL EVENT PROFILE

Still holding out for a Hero, Los Angeles?

Well, that’s not surprising given the many recent challenges and turmoil … but now the wait is over for the nation’s favorite admission-free, helicopter-only aviation event. #CAHEROES

Since 1996, when the AMERICAN HEROES Air Show first deployed to Hansen Dam Sports Complex in Los Angeles, this unique aviation experience has grown … both in scope and mission. Over the years, rotary-wing enthusiasts who journeyed to Los Angeles to see what our event was all about returned home and worked to land the HEROES Air Show concept in their own cities across the nation.

Additionally, our mission to EDUCATE – COMMUNICATE – DEMONSTRATE the dynamic capabilities of rotary-wing aviation to the public, media and community officials has widened. The HEROES Air Show now introduces our guests to diverse recruiting teams, including law enforcement, fire/community safety, the military, and homeland security. It is also a unique privilege at many of our events to co-host with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services a special Naturalization Ceremony where members of our communities spend their first day as American citizens at the AMERICAN HEROES Air Show.

We invite you to tune into our HEROES Air Show Channel on YouTube for our just released Countdown-CA.2022 video which profiles the upcoming date for this unique aviation experience now scheduled to return to the Hansen Dam Sports Complex. We invite you to join us and introduce your family to the HEROES they can really look up to.
